FilterSnap offers air and water filters. The FilterSnap site has a handy tool to help you identify the filter you need. I easily found my brand and model and selected the location of the filtration unit.
I was sent a UKF8001 replacement for my Maytag. It’s also sometimes referred to as a EFF-6007A replacement – although they don’t specify it on the site. Their item number for this filter is UT-02-NTS.
The filter came shrink-wrapped in a plain white box. Their site states that their non-branded filters will save you money. The filters are manufactured and assembled in America. You’d only know if by the small “made in the USA” label on the filter. No mention of a city is given.

- They capture your email address before they give you a price promoting their subscription service.
- Their site only gives you a fraction of the number of compatible filter models. This might not be a big deal once you figure out what you need but it could be frustrating for people replacing a filter for the first time.
- They provide no specifications for their filters. Here’s what you learn from the label after you buy it:
Dimensions: 8″ x 2-1/4″
Capacity: 300 gallons;
Operating Pressure: 30-120 psi
Operating Temperaure: 33-100 °F
Note: My previous filter had a capacity of 765 gallons. Knowing the capacity of your filters is a good tool to help you compare costs. Also, most better quality newer filters I see now say 300 gallons or 6 months.
- The filters are not NSF International certified against ANSI / NSF Standards 42 and 53. I find this alarming since I wrote a post not too long ago about the dangers of counterfeit refrigerator filters. You can read it Here
I’m not calling these unbranded filters counterfeit but I believe they should at least be ANSI/NSF 42 (most generic filters meet this criteria) and ANSI / NSF 53 certified if you are concerned about the removal of VOCs, lead, Cryptosporidium and MTBE (methyl tertiary-butyl ether).
My FilterSnap UT-02-NTS did not fit properly and leaked. When I compare it to the generic filter I was using you can see noticeable differences in the size of the threads that hold the filter in place.
I wrote the PR agent who sent me the filter and haven’t gotten a response back yet. I didn’t pay for this so I haven’t asked for a refund. The FiltersSnap site says they offer 100% satisfaction but I cannot comment on their customer service.
The FilterSnap pricing is per month so you need to calculate how much it would cost for 6 months or your preferred replacement period. Even if you are basing your replacement criteria on price, I think there are better options out there.
After three attempts, this is the best I could get the filter to fit.
