This week the announcement was made that 15-3043 Greenery, which we saw in the PANTONE Spring 2017 Fashion Color Report, is the official winner.
Greenery is a fresh and “zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring” recalling botanical life and signs of nature’s regrowth.
“While Serenity and Rose Quartz, the PANTONE Color of the Year 2016, expressed the need for harmony in a chaotic world,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for amid a complex social and political landscape.
Pantone calls Greenery a trans-seasonal shade that pairs well with neutrals, other bright colors and deeper shades too, pastels and metallics.
The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally.
PANTONE identified 10 palettes where Greenery plays a role. I’ve paired a few palettes with inspiration photos. You can review the PANTONE color trends that inspired these palettes here.
