GE Appliances and Microban Take on Moldy Front-Loaders

The laundry team at GE Appliances, a Haier company, partnered with Mircroban International ( a name you may now know well thanks to a partnership between Proctor & Gamble and Microban that launched Microban 24 disinfectant spray earlier this year to combat COVID-19) to develop a revolutionary laundry system designed to help prevent the biggest complaint in front load washers – mold and odor.

The all-new UltraFresh Front Load washers from GE Appliances, engineered to stay fresh and clean, use an exclusive Microban technology built into specific components to help prevent the growth of odor-causing bacteria without the need for owners to wipe down their machine or leave the door open after each load.

After two-and-a-half years of innovation and testing, UltraFresh Front Load washers features a three-step approach to preventing unwanted odor: Drain, Dry and Defend.

GE Appliances developed a wider gasket, angled to allow water to fully drain after the wash cycle. Moreover, the new UltraFresh Vent System with OdorBlock™ creates a revolutionary new airflow at the touch of a button. After the wash cycle, the unit pulls in and circulates fresh air; cycling on and off every 15 minutes over an 8 hour period. removing moisture from the door, gasket and basket.GE UltraFresh Washer is designed to take on Moldy Front-Loaders with new gasket

Microban technology is built into the gasket, dispenser and pump during manufacturing to help prevent the growth of odor-causing bacteria in parts of the washer where moisture could linger.

The GE GFW650SSNWW and GFW850SPNRS  start around $899.00 and come in two new matte finishes – Satin Nickel and Sapphire Blue – joining the  White and Diamond Gray finishes. In addition to the usual smart dispensing technology and WiFi  connection you’d expect to find, the door on the washer machines can be reversed.
