Pantone, provider of professional color language standards and digital solutions, announced PANTONE 19-4052, Classic Blue, as the Pantone Color of the Year for 2020; a timeless and enduring hue elegant in its simplicity.
Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of the thought-provoking Classic Blue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation from which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.
2019’s Color of the Year, Living Coral, was about playful expression and an innate need for optimism. Pantone’s color pick for 2020 will infuse our interiors (and our minds!) with a relaxed confidence we’ve been craving.
PANTONE 19-4052, Classic Blue
Classic Blue is a perfect transitional shade from neutrals to more colorful hues, serving as a backdrop for brighter colors and textures.
Dare to break patterns in the interior: mix antique items with playful new design. Mix matte and shiny surfaces to create your intimate dwelling.
“A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, Pantone 19-4052 Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication.” – Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone Color Institute.
Pair mustard or ochre tones with Classic Blue for a natural blend that warms the heart and adds sunshine to any room. For more color combination inspiration visit my post from May on 8 PANTONE palettes for 2020 and these 5 new palette combinations for PANTONE Connect.
Why Choose Blue
Whether you prefer COTY Chinese Porcelain from PPG or COTY Naval From Sherwin-Williams, blue reminds you of the vast expanse of the sea, an endless horizon or the eyes of a newborn baby, blue calms the spirit and lulls you into sweet nostalgia.
Mystic Blue
I recently came across the press release for SICO Paint, a division of PPG, and their Color of the Year 2020: Mystic Cobalt. It was influenced by the recurring theme from a recent PPG Global Colour Workshop for a need to connect in an unmoored world. Both classic and relaxing, Mystic Cobalt is an “ode to the infinite beauty of the world” and is quite similar to PANTONE’s Classic Blue.
