In case you missed it, Dunn Edwards bypassed announcing a color of the year and instead released a Color of the Century.

Dunn Edwards joined other paint brands in 2017 forecasting the color that will be most on-trend and creating inspiration for consumers. Benjamin Moore  has announced Cinnamon Slate 2113-40 as its 2025 Color of the Year. This blend of heathered plum and velvety brown offers a sense of soothing familiarity and balance, making it a versatile choice for any design style.

Purple is poised to be pervasive in 2025, if color authorities have anything to say about it. It started on the runways in the form of periwinkle suits, lilac knitwear, and lavender dresses. And then came the COTY announcements: Minwax’s annointed hue: Violet. GLIDDEN Paint by PPG’s follow-up announcement: Purple Basil. Even Behr’s peppy red, Rumors and C2 Raku have purple undertones.

AkzoNobel’s Color of the Year 2025: True Joy

If any color could paint a smile on your face, it’s True Joy, AkzoNobel’s Color of the Year for 2025. True Joy is an uplifting, sunny yellow shade that will fill your home with creative energy, optimism and pride.

True Joy is much more vivid than the muted colors selected by AkzoNobel in years past. I’m a little surprised at the selection considering Wild Wonder was the hero color for 2023.
