LED Cabinet Drawer Light and More

LED lit drawer | KitchAnn StyleIf you have an IKEA store in your area you can purchase battery operated LED strips with sensors for lighting up a drawer interior.

The Dioder from IKEA is 11″ long.  It will light up for 15 seconds when you open the drawer.  If still on, it will go out 5 seconds after you close the drawer.

If you are in the habit of opening drawers in the dark then this will be very helpful for you.  I can imagine this as being useful for the drawer that houses the flashlights and batteries in case of a power outage.

If there is not an IKEA near you, I am told Costco sells Cyron LED light strips in a 6 pack.  They may be a warehouse only item since I could not find them on their website.

Cyron does have a website so if don’t have a Costco membership you can still get the lights.  They sell kits with lights, clips and controllers.

You can use these in many places. You are only limited by your imagination.

Make your home theater spectacular by adding these lights behind your flat screen TV.

Hunter Fan Illumi-Heat

hunter-fan.jpgThis might look like an typical ceiling mounted light fixture, but this new light fixture from Hunter Fan Company actually contains a heating element.

The Illumi-Heat Fixture has a 700-watt ceramic heating element that can be used in bathrooms, mudroom, or any small room that could use some extra heat.

Operated by remote control, the heating element can raise the temperature of a 215 sq. ft. room 5 degrees in an hour.  When you don’t need the extra heat, the fixture operates as a any other normal light fixture.

This is such a great product.  I’ve been in many homes that could use this very fixture.

Mirrors with Integrated Lights Create Minimalist Bathrooms with Maximum Impact

Finding the right lighting fixture for the bathroom can be frustrating at times.
Consider looking at mirrors with integrated lighting.  The placement of the lights
provide great illumination for the face.  Back-lit mirrors can add drama or serve as a night light.
And, if you remodel later you can reuse the mirror and incorporate it into your next design theme.

Many of the mirrors use energy conserving fluorescent bulbs that will last for 20,000 hours.

GE High Efficiency Incandescent Lamp

incan.jpgEdisons invention may stay around a little longer now that GE has begun work on creating a high efficiency incandescent light bulb that will be as energy efficient as a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) and deliver high-quality light output.

Over the last four years GE has invested over $200 million in the development of their high efficiency incandescent (HEI).  GE has set a target for these new lamps at initial production to be nearly twice as efficient as current incandescents and deliver 30 Lumens per watt.  Their later goal is for the HEI bulb to be four times as efficient and comparable to CFL bulbs.

In addition to desirable light quality, GE says the new HEI lamp will have instant-on convenience and be priced less than current CFLs.  Don’t worry about waiting for the CFLs you just bought to burn out; these new HEI lamps won’t be on the market until 2010.
