New 2013 Corian & Zodiaq Colors

Based on color directions identified by Global Color Research, a London-based creative color consultant, DuPont brings new colors that capture the dramatic and subtle qualities from nature that include veining, earth tones, warm hues and fluid patterns.

Eight of the nine new Corian colors will be in the Private Collection group. The 9th new color is an attractive solid gray.

The three new colors of DuPont Zodiaq for 2013 will provide some exciting aesthetic differentiation. Two of the colors that have been added to the Zodiaq palette – Coarse Carrara and Coarse Marfil – offer fluid, consistent veining similar to the veining often found in marble. The 3rd new color of Zodiaq is a reflection of the popularity of neutral colors; Snow Flurry is a frosted white color with intricate gray flecks.

Solidify:

Solidify was inspired by global climatic changes and how our high-tension atmosphere can create crystallized and frosted solids. The cool tones of this trend are misted and sensorial, as melded metal and mirrored flecks are set within frosted solids for depth and dimension. The surfaces are fractured and scattered fragments are fused, creating delicate and ethereal patterns that bring a softly opulent edge to these hard surfaces.

Interference:

Interference explores the lure of semi-precious stones, with a feeling of sparkle and glamour, yet with an understated opulence that conveys mystical and organic luxury. Bronze is a key metallic shade and when juxtaposed with subtle finishes and earthy textures, reflects the warm tints of raw sienna and terra-cotta.

Raw:

Raw represents honest luxury, and the fresh hues that follow this trend embody comfort in a down-to-earth aesthetic that offers a respite from daily realities. Here, organic, yet polished effects are blended to celebrate the natural world and emulate plant materials and other natural fibers that are encased in transparency.

The Hope Gala

On March 2nd, the Florida Suncoast Chapter JDRF is hosting it’s 7th Annual Hope Gala ~ The Illumination Ball at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples, Florida honoring Mr David Collar.

JDRF is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s research mission is to discover, develop and deliver advances that cure, better treat and prevent type 1 diabetes. As the global leader in the fight against type 1 diabetes, JDRF’s research programs are comprehensive — addressing all aspects of the disease for the best quality of life and a cure for this disease.

Color Trends

Are you thinking about remodeling your bathroom?

Have you torn out a collection of magazine pages showing beautiful baths clad in white marble and white fixtures?

While white fixtures will remain timeless, the color choices for your walls are shifting towards darker grays. (Gray = American while Grey = UK)

I prefer warm grays over cool grays. Although sometimes a cooler gray will look great with Carrara Marble.

Gray works in many different styles of homes. It’s perfect for a rustic modern or loft-style home, a traditional home with a modern feel or a contemporary home.

If decorating around a theme, gray is perfect for creating a Zen bathroom.

Consider if giving your bath a new look with a simple coat of gray paint. Light or dark, it will be anything but boring. Adding accents of color with towels, flowers and soaps is an inexpensive way to quickly keep a room looking fresh.

Pantone 2013 Color of the Year: Emerald

Pantone recently name color 17-5641: Emerald Green as its 2013 color of the Year.

The Color of the Year for 2013 is a very clear departure from 2012’s Color of the Year: “Tangerine Tango,” a hot color that Pantone’s Eiseman described as “sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive…an orange with a lot of depth to it.” In 2011, “Honeysuckle Pink” was the top hue, a retro hue that some characterized as “Mad Men Pink.”

But 2013 is all about a vivid, verdant shade of green that “enhances our sense of well-being further by inspiring insight, as well as promoting balance and harmony.”

To the casual observer the Color of the Year designation can seem arbitrary — in recent years, it’s bounced from shades of blue to yellow to green to pink to orange — those who study color say it’s hardly random.

“When we’re traveling around the world, we look at little clues to how we think color is progressing,” said Eiseman. said.

But like so many good things, the emerald trend seemed to start at home. “We started to see it in housewares,” Eiseman said.

Cuisinart and Le Creuset have been introducing emerald into their lines, and in Europe, the color has been showing up in glassware and ceramics.

“It has a natural affinity to work beautifully with anything with that glow,” says Eiseman.

The fashion world seems to have embraced the color, especially with celebrities Angelina Jolie, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Elizabeth Moss looking fabulous in jewel-colored gowns. The reaction from Interior Designers seems to be mixed.
