Pantone Color of the Year 2017

I’ve been anxiously awaiting December to roll around because that is when the global color authority of the design industry, Pantone Color Institute, reveals their Color of the Year choice for 2017.

This week the announcement was made that 15-3043 Greenery, which we saw in the PANTONE Spring 2017 Fashion Color Report, is the official winner.

Greenery is a fresh and “zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring” recalling botanical life and signs of nature’s regrowth. Continue reading “Pantone Color of the Year 2017”

AkzoNobel Color of the Year 2017

Leading color experts from AkzoNobel have selected a shade of blue called Denim Drift as the Color of the Year for 2017.

After 18 months of research and debate, the team at AkzoNobel (which owns the paint company Dulux), made the announcement during the launch of the company’s annual trends forecast known as “ColourFutures.” Denim Drift is the foundation for an inspirational palette of paint colors centered on the expected global social and design trends for the upcoming year. Benjamin Moore Color of the Year 2017

Benjamin Moore – who heralded Simply White (OC-117) as their color of the year in 2016 – did an about face picking Shadow (2117-30) for 2017.

“Allusive and enigmatic, Shadow is a master of ambiance. It is a color that calls to mind a ‘past,’ yet it can also make a contemporary, color-confident statement,” –Ellen O’Neill, Benjamin Moore’s creative director
