The Lift Oven’s glass ceramic base lowers directly from the oven to the countertop, where food dishes can be easily loaded and then raised into the cooking cavity. Since heat rises, the heat remains in the oven cavity, resulting in minimal energy loss during the lift operation.
Safety is increased since the need to reach over an oven door to remove food has been eliminated. I’m sure this oven will join the other ADA approved models in Gaggenau’s line up.
If there is a power outage and food is still inside, the oven door can be opened manually. Gaggenau cautions to wait until the oven is cool to avoid risk if burning oneself.
The Luna cooktop features burners that serve as the cooking grate and retract when not in use via a patented lifting mechanism leaving a smooth surface.
The Luna has three burners with spark-less ignition and instantaneous flame delivered by the patented Aero burners offering precise linear flame control and glow ignition to ensure the desired heat level is achieved. The 36″ x 16″ cooktop boasts a minimalist style. Fisher & Paykel states the cooktop has ergonomic benefits too since the single row of burners eliminates the need to reach over a burner in the front to get to the back burner. Their own consumer research reveuals that 2.1 burners are used at any one time. The Lunda was designed to be a global cooktop and as such will be released first in Australia, Asia and Europe, followed by the U.S. when the power requirements are reconfigured. I have not seen a final release date but I am hopeful it will be soon.
