PePe the Pet Dryer

Every winter over one hundred thousand attendees and press gather in Las Vegas to see the latest gadgets and tech unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). One interesting product from the show is PePe, a pet dryer for your dog or cat.

Drying off a wet dog can be a chore – especially if they like to bolt right after they are released from the tub. That’s where Korean company PePe comes in.

PePe’s DR-100 pet dryer is meant for small pets under 30 pounds and can dry them in about 25 minutes. It sort of looks like a heated pet crate.

25 air outlets move in seven directions to quickly dry your dog or cat while deploying white noise to replicate their time in the womb. Pepe’s negative pressure systems constantly feeds the unit with fresh air.

A major advantage the PePe Pet dryer has over other models is that it can easily be disassembled for cleaning with mild soap and water.

Need more? PePe’s pet dryer incorporates some beauty technology you are probably already familiar with such as negative ions. Just like the function on your own hairdryer, negative ions seal the cuticle to cut down on frizz and flyaways for a super-smooth coat.

Another beauty industry innovation incorporated in the pet dryer is red and blue LED lights that Pepe calls Biolite therapy.

Veterinarians have been using LED light therapy for a while. Red LED light can penetrate your pet’s tissue, muscles, tendons ( and even bone) to increase blood circulation, promoting the healing process. Blue LED light therapy is effective for reducing bacteria, improving skin condition and it helps regulate mood and circadian rhythms.

I haven’t seen the specifications on this unit so I can’t speak to the effectiveness of the LED lights used in PePe’s pet dryer.

PePe pet dryer is currently available in Singapore, Korea, and China for $660. There is no word on the availability of the unit or replacement filters in the US yet.
