What inspired Pantone to make this bold choice, for the first time anointing a double victor? Here’s how the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute explains it: “In many parts of the world we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design,” Leatrice Eiseman said.
Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.
This color duo is already popular on fashion runways. They were among the 10 colors named in PANTONE’s Sept. 10 Fashion Colors Report.
Just as Scandinavian Design is a great inspiration source for using the White COTY 2016 Shades, it equally works well for Rose Quartz and Serenity.
Pantone created new color palettes to inspire your designs. All finishes and textures, whether matte, metallic or glossy, combine easily with other mid-tones including greens and purples, rich browns, and all shades of yellow and pink. I’ve scoured the internet for inspiration photos to help aid in your inspiration.
“From a business perspective, it’s two colors, so it’s an opportunity to make extra combinations,” says Ms. Eiseman. “It makes for a perfect combination in the home” for tablecloths, glassware and ceramics. She predicts paisleys and plaids will make use of the combo.
These palettes are different from the ones PANTONE released in the fall.
