Pantone Reveals 2021’s Color of the Year

As 2020 draws to a close, the powers to be at the Pantone Color Institute have released their annual color of the year. According to the color experts, 2021’s vibe is to be expressed in not one, but two separate hues. It’s only the second time Pantone has selected two colors.

The forecasted pairing, ‘Ultimate Grey’ (Pantone 17-5104) and ‘Illuminating’ yellow (Pantone 13-0647) will take over from 2020’s demure ‘Classic Blue.’  Given next year is hanging in the balance right now, it could be said that  Pantone is covering all bases for how the coming year could pan out.

Apparently, we’re to see the combination as a ‘unified pair’ – symbolizing the solidarity that will be needed for what’s ahead.

For 2021 home décor, incorporating this color duo is more about the finish than the actual colors. Warm metallic tones used in new and unexpected ways will be prized for both their chic aesthetic and for the inherent antibacterial and antimicrobial qualities therein.
