“Tranquil Dawn perfectly captures the 2020 mood of what makes us human,” explains Heleen van Gent, Head of AkzoNobel’s Global Aesthetic Center – which leads the annual trend research. “It’s reminiscent of the colors of the morning sky and encapsulates our desire to treasure our most human qualities, which we’ll need in the new decade we are entering. It’s an exciting and inspiring way for us to share our passion for paint with the world.”

As designing for well-being takes center-stage in the coming decade, sustainability will become a straightforward baseline to good design solutions. Inspired to the Biophilia design trend, Tranquil Dawn will be a great choice for Japandi interiors, where minimalism meets nature for a calming and restful ambiance.

Because timeless style never dies, homeowners will want their white on white kitchens remodeled in the new decade to better represent their evolving lifestyle and organic emotion. Tranquil Dawn used on custom cabinetry makes this room both approachable for cooking parties and revitalizing.

If you tastes are more New Nordic then you’ll love this inspirational image. The New Nordic style masterfully creates a room that is never too cold nor too dark. Dark shades are paired with very warm materials such as wood and rattan. Edges are soft – boxy lines are replaced by smooth curves. Well-placed items replace the need for adding decoration.

2020 Color Palettes

Tranquil Dawn comes as part of four new palettes that explore the themes of what it means to be human, inspired by the changing sunrises that paint the sky in different seasons called Meaning, Creativity, Care and Play.
