Explosion Hazard: GE Recalls Gas Rangetops

GE Monogram is recalling just under 500 Pro Rangetops, manufactured in Mexico, for liquid petroleum (LP or propane) for a potential to fail to ignite posing a risk of delayed ignition or explosion.

GE has received 6 reports of explosions – YIKES – but no injuries. If you have a 36″ or 48″ rangetop manufactured between 2008 and 2011 stop using it immediately and turn off your gas supply.

To locate your serial number, remove the left knob. The knob should easily slip off (and back on).

If you purchased an LP model or converted a natural gas model to LP, call the GE Recall Hotline 866-645-3956 Monday-Friday 8:00 – 5:00  PM ET to schedule your service call for a free repair. You can also visit their recall page here.
