In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Haier America is recalling 37,000 Haier top-mount refrigerator freezers.
This recall is for the smaller Haier HA10TG31SB, HA10TG31SS, and HA10TG31SW models with 10.1 cubic foot capacity. They measure about five feet high and two feet wide.
An electrical component in the refrigerator can short circuit, posing a fire hazard. Haier America has received three reports of smoke, fire and associated property damage.
If you purchased one of these refrigerators from from September 2014 through September 2018 you will want to check your serial number. Most models were sold at Lowes during this time.
The model and serial numbers can be found on a label on the back of the refrigerator on the upper, rear panel.
Haier America will provide a FREE repair to all consumers with affected units.
