“Violet Verbena is at once as nostalgic as it is modern,” said Dee Schlotter, senior color marketing manager, PPG. “Purple was unanimously selected as the 2017 color of the year by PPG’s global color experts for its distinctive qualities. We are seeing this shade of violet on the runway in fashion, and in textiles for the commercial and residential segments.”

Does this color feel like a blending of Pantone’s 2016 Serenity and Rose Quartz?  Continue reading “Pittsburgh Paints Color of the Year 2017”

Pantone Home and Interiors 2017 Color Trends

Half of 2016 is already over and it’s again when designers start looking to 2017 Color Trends. My first post for the up coming year starts with the biggest influencer of them all, Pantone.

Leatrice (Lee) Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute; unveiled the nine color palettes for 2017 from PantoneView Home + Interiors in her annual seminar at the International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago.

It takes me weeks to curate my collection of images for each palette. I used pictures of the palettes from Pantone’s display at the International Home + Housewares Show.

Each year Pantone pulls inspiration from current design trends (like metallics and black and white imagery), as well as bright colors from the film industry, most notably from films like Star Wars: The Force Awakes, The Peanuts Movie, and Disney’s Inside Out. Innovative Undercounter Refrigeration

Have you seen the new UPR 503 from Liebherr Appliances?

Liebherr’s new undercounter refrigerator features a full front panel design with self-retracting pull-out glass shelves on full-extension glides.

“These refrigerators provide designers with alternative design options for smaller kitchens or other living spaces, while offering the same or better storage options than that of a full-size refrigerator – all for added convenience on hand. Like all Liebherr refrigerators, the UPR 503 combines the best of both worlds – design with functionality. No high-end kitchen should go without.” – Josef Steigmiller, VP of the Americas Refrigerators and Freezers Division

The UPR 503 can be adjusted in height so when I design custom panels for my clients they can match in height with surrounding cabinetry for a seamless look. The picture above shows a handleless panel with a back bevel.

MSRP for the UPR 503 is $2,199.00 which puts it on par with other luxury undercounter appliances from manufacturers like Sub-Zero.

The door compartment for tall bottles is convenient. This is a nice alternative for homeowners who do not want the two drawer configuration or a unit with just fixed shelves.
