I think most of us in the design community are surprised three major paint companies selected a White as their 2016 color of the year.

Raouf Sarwari of Artisan Design Source creates laser-cut pendants and lamps using acrylic plastic and upcycled cardboard.
While these lights are technically upcycled and not recycled, I like the craftsmanship and quality of light to add Sarwari to my Green Lighting Spotlight.
Artisan Design Source’s lights come in a variety of fascinating shapes and colored acrylic. The pendants average size is 9″ x 18″.
Artisan Design Source, based in Brooklyn, debuted it’s lighting at the BKLYN Designs furniture festival this past May.
I’m curious to see what Sarwari could do with laser-cutting on a larger scale.
AkzoNobel revealed their 2016 Color of the Year with 4 design trends.
Gold and gold tones are being used everywhere in the design world. It is a recurring color and material at trade shows and in graphic design as well as in architecture, fashion, beauty and interior design. For AkzoNobel it was a natural evolution and transition from the coppery orange that was the Color of the Year for 2015 to select Ochre Gold as the color of the Year for 2016. Spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola, in her first collaboration with Boffi, has created a contemporary modular kitchen collection called Salinas.
