The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced about 235,000 kitchen wall cabinets manufactured by American Woodmark and sold under the Continental Cabinets and Hampton Bay brands have been recalled due to possible separation of the cabinet body from the wall backing.
The cabinet maker will supply a free repair kit that includes two brackets with screws and plastic covers if your cabinets meet the criteria.
Cabinet Recall
The affected cabinets were sold from February 2022 through March 2023 for between $80 and $265 depending on the cabinet model. The cabinets came in white, brown, gray, and natural wood and ranged in size from 30 to 36 inches wide and 12 to 36 inches high.
Retailers and online sellers included Ace Hardware, Allied Building Stores, Cimarron Lumber Supply, Do it Best, House Hasson Hardware, HD Supply, True Value Company, Wurth Wood Group nationwide, and and most Home Depots.

A stamp on the back of the cabinet says “BP300 KW1” or “BP300 KW2” and a date stamp of February 2022 through September 2022. But because that can’t be seen once the cabinet is installed, American Woodmark will provide a free repair kit for any of the above models bought from February 2022 through this past March. Both Continental and Hampton Bay have forms on their websites to assist you.

If your cabinets are affected by this recall, you are advised to “stop using” your cabinetry until the fix can be made. Better advice might be to remove the top shelf and heavy and breakable items such as dishes and canned goods.
