Combining our desire for stability, creativity, and the need to channel more calm into our lives is what’s driving three key color forecasts for 2020.
For 2020 many paint color and trend predictions are leaning toward softer, more muted shades—not quite pastels, but with the same relaxed appearance as some chalk paint colors.
Dunn-Edwards Paints has announced its 2020 Color of the Year — Minty Fresh (DE5687) — a water soft and mentholated green. “Minty Fresh reflects the optimistic spirit of entering a new decade of fresh starts,” said Sara McLean, color expert and stylist for Dunn-Edwards.

c2paint Color of the Year 2020, Salty Brine (C2-701), floats effortlessly between green and blue, giving it a richness and depth that can only be found in nature. Like water, it is fluid and diverse, carrying with it organic notes that honor the natural world.

Rather than settling for just one paint shade, Valspar Paint revealed 12 nature-inspired hues as their Colors of the Year 2020.
“Earth’s prescription for the chaotic, busy lives we all live is to bring the tranquility of nature and the outdoor world into the home. That’s exactly what we set out to accomplish when forecasting the 2020 Colors of the Year,” says Sue Kim, Valspar Color Marketing Manager at Sherwin-Williams. “Take Mint Whisper, for instance. The crisp shade brings a sense of peace — and nature’s positivity — indoors.”

Why Mint is Trending
Inspired by soft pastels, mint provides a sharp contrast with white and greens, creating an interesting monochromatic look. Green, derived from nature, helps promote physical and mental health, speaking to our ongoing desire to bring positivity and well-being into our homes
How to Style Mint
As a subdued tone that is easy on the eyes, mint green can be a very versatile color.
Decorate with mint green in place of other neutrals. It adds a touch of brightness but is still calm and subtle enough to have the same effect as a neutral.

Make mint the star of the show by pairing it with crisp white.
For a comfortable, casual interior, pair mint with warm natural wood tones and brass or gold fixtures.
