Here’s a pretty serious recall you should pay attention to if you own a Bosch, Thermador, Gaggenau or Kenmore Elite Dishwasher.

BSH Home Appliances is Recalling approximately 149,000 Dishwashers in the US and 45,200 in  Canada to replace faulty cords that could overheat and cause a fire.

The dishwashers were manufactured between January 2008 through December 2013 and sold from January 2009 to May 2014 . To see if your dishwasher is part of the recall, find the model and serial number located on the top side of the dishwasher’s inner door panel.

Pay special attention to the serial number of your dishwasher because not all dishwashers of the same model are included.

You can check your model on each brand’s recall registration page by using the links above or  you may call the safety recall hotline at (888) 965-5813. Hours: Monday through Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST.

If your dishwasher is part of the recall, the website will prompt you to register your appliance for a repair. In the mean time, do not use it.

October 2017 Update:

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada BHS Home Appliances has  expanded this safety recall to include dishwashers that were manufactured from September 2012 through January 2015 and sold through appliance and specialty retailers in the United States and Canada.

The previous dishwasher power cord recall included Bosch, Jenn-Air, Thermador and Gaggenau brand dishwashers manufactured from January 2008 through December 2013 and sold through appliance and specialty retailers in the U.S. and Canada.

New impacted models can be black, white, stainless steal or custom panel. They were sold at appliance, department and home improvement stores across the country between January 2013 and May 2015. They were priced between $850 and $2,600.
