The Green Hour

The Green Hour is a vibrant green that embodies individual spirit and adventure.

Dunn-EdwardsColor of the Year for 2018 ‘The Green Hour’ is a darker shade of grayed blue-green. “This stunning color has dual personalities of being moody, dramatic and intense, while still grounding and tranquil, acting as a neutral,” explained Sara McLean, color expert and stylist for Dunn-Edwards.

Variations of this hue have been trending for the past couple of years and it’s influence can be seen other Color of the Year picks from Behr and Sherwin-Williams.

The name comes from the custom of drinking absinthe in Parisian bars, bistros and cafés beginning in the early 1800s and continuing through the turn of the century. The hour of 5 p.m. was called l’heure verte, or The Green Hour, signaling an increase in absinthe drinking into the late evening hours. Artists, writers and other creative types were regulars at The Green Hour.

Teal Color Trend

Green has been trendin for a while so it's no surprise to see this gray-ed blue green selected by Dunn-Edwards

Dark teal kitchen cabinets are becoming the new go-to for designers and homeowners. The deep and rich blue-green hue looks gorgeous when paired with a variety of hardware choices, color palettes and kitchen aesthetics from modern to country—no one wonder it’s a favorite.
